The Challenge
Pakaoo Foods envisioned a food platform that would go beyond simple delivery—they wanted to create a culinary community that connects food lovers with restaurants, home chefs, and recipes. The challenge was building a platform that could handle real-time order tracking, multiple payment methods, and a rich content experience while remaining fast and intuitive on mobile devices.
The client needed native mobile performance, seamless GPS integration for delivery tracking, and a platform that could scale to handle peak ordering times without compromising user experience.
Our Solution
We developed Pakaoo as a cross-platform mobile application that combines food delivery with recipe discovery, creating a unique culinary ecosystem that keeps users engaged beyond just ordering meals.
Real-Time Order Tracking
The order tracking system provides live GPS updates from restaurant to doorstep. Users can watch their delivery progress on an interactive map, receive status notifications at each stage, and communicate with delivery partners when needed. The system handles multiple concurrent deliveries with optimized routing.
Integrated Recipe Platform
Beyond delivery, Pakaoo features a comprehensive recipe section where users can discover new dishes, view detailed cooking instructions, and see ingredient lists with quantities. Each recipe includes step-by-step guidance, making it easy for users to recreate restaurant favorites at home.
Seamless Checkout Experience
The checkout flow was optimized for minimum friction. Users can save multiple delivery addresses, store payment methods securely, and reorder favorites with a single tap. The system handles offers and promotions automatically, applying the best available discounts to each order.
Technical Implementation
The mobile app is built with React Native, enabling us to deliver native performance on both iOS and Android from a single codebase. The shared code approach allowed faster development while maintaining platform-specific optimizations for the best user experience.
The backend runs on Node.js with MongoDB providing flexible document storage for the diverse data needs—from user profiles and order history to recipe content and restaurant menus. Google Maps API powers the location services, delivery tracking, and address management. Stripe integration handles secure payment processing with support for cards, UPI, and digital wallets. Firebase provides real-time database capabilities for instant order status updates and push notifications.
Results
Pakaoo launched successfully in multiple cities, quickly building a loyal user base. The combination of delivery and recipe content has resulted in higher engagement rates than typical food delivery apps. Average order frequency is 40% higher than industry benchmarks, and the recipe section has become a key differentiator driving organic user acquisition.
